When my husband and I returned from our honeymoon we moved
into our first apartment. We walked in and started laughing at its sad cinder
block walls and the barely-there "carpet." We were still in school
and had little space, time or money to make much of it. However, as we unpacked
our combined belongings I enthusiastically told my husband, "Someday, when
we have a house of our own I am going to make it beautiful, I promise. It will
be OUR home and it will be great!" Last year, with four and a half years
of marriage "experience", two degrees and two sweet daughters in tow,
we bought our first home. Since then it has been my goal to make that promise a
reality. We still don't have any truly "extra" money and with two
toddlers running around the time problem hasn't really been solved but I am
more enthusiastic than ever. I love the challenge of creating a beautiful home
on a budget and making it a place we love to be, warm and inviting. This blog will
document the successes and mishaps of our journey as first time home owners.
